Novell Certification
Thousands of computer professionals are certified by Novell through its Education Certification Programs to manage or support Novell information technology (IT) products each year. Novell Certifications identify a specific skill set and provide an employment edge for individuals entering the computer and networking industries.
Certifications offered by Novell:
CNA (Certified Novell Administrator): CNA Certification indicates that an individual has the skills and knowledge needed to handle the day-to-day administration of an installed Novell networking product such as NetWare 5.X or GroupWise. CNAs are certified by Novell to provide on-site administrative support for software users in a variety of work environments, including professional offices and small business workgroups, departments, and corporate information services (IS). To become CNA Certified, the individual must pass a single Administration exam in one of five specialized product areas:
- NetWare 5
- IntraNetWare
- NetWare 3
- GroupWise 4
- GroupWise 5
The individual may opt to become certified in more than one specialty area.
CNE (Certified Novell or Novell Engineer): CNE Certification, which is more advanced than CNA Certification, qualifies an individual to manage network environments and solve company-wide support problems. To become CNE Certified, the individual must pass 6 exams (five core exams and one elective) along a specific product track. These specialty areas include:
- NetWare 5
- NetWare 4.11
- NetWare 3
- GroupWise 4
- GroupWise 5
Along each CNE track, the individual is required to pass the Administration exam for each product, thereby automatically earning CNA status on the way to becoming CNE Certified.
CNI (Certified Novell Instructor): CNI certification indicates that an individual is qualified to teach authorized Novell Certification courses.
CDE (Certified Directory Engineer): CDE Certification provides a standard level of training in directory services technologies across all platforms. To attain CDE Certification, the individual must hold an industry Certification from Novell, Microsoft, Cisco, or IBM and then have passed three additional Novell exams.
