Microsoft Excel 2002
Tutorial 6 Internet Assignment
Book Warehouse
You are the owner of a small Book Warehouse company. You have just learned that you could use an Excel template to create your Invoices. You will create an invoice using the Sales Invoice template, look up the shipping cost on the Internet (using the United Parcel Service Web site) and you will look up the current tax rate for the city to which you are sending your packages.
- Start Excel.
- Open a new workbook based on the Sales Invoice template. Enter your name followed by Book Warehouse in the company text box. For example, Todd Smith Book Warehouse.
- Fill in the invoice data for a fake customer as follows:
Customer | Mary McClanahan |
Address | 1236 Forest Lawn Circle Friendsville, TN 78987 |
Phone | 423-555-7890 |
Date | 10/15/2003 |
Order Number | 89076 |
Invoice Number | 0001 |
Rep | Your Name |
Qty | 24 |
Description | Microsoft Excel Training Manuals |
Unit Price | 22.75 |
Description (next item) | Shipping (wt. 2.14 oz - UPS Ground) |
Shipping | See Step 4 for how to find this value |
|
- Launch the Internet Explorer (or another Web browser).
- Go the Web site for the United Parcel Service: www.ups.com
- Click the rates button and enter the data that will calculate the shipping cost. Use your zip code as the "origin" entry and the customer's zip code as the "destination" entry. You entered the weight of the package in the description field above. Assume the package to measure 12" X 12 " X 12/" Assume that the package is to be sent as UPS Ground. Enter the shipping cost amount in the shipping cost column.
- Use the Internet to determine the tax rate for the customer's city. Enter the rate in the rate text box in the invoice.
- Save this invoice as Invoice 0001. Print the invoice.
- Create another invoice using this same template. Enter data of your own choosing except make sure the Invoice # is 0002. Save the invoice as Invoice 0002.
- For this invoice assume the customer has requested Next Day Air delivery. Use the data you entered to determine the shipping cost.
- Save and print the second invoice.
- Close Excel.
