Course Technology Selected Cornerstone Partner for CompTIA Server+ Certification
Worldwide leader in computing education selected to participate in the development of Server+ certification
Boston, Mass November 30, 2000
Course Technology, a division of Cengage Learning, today announced that it was selected by CompTIA - an association that develops vendor-neutral standards in e-commerce, customer service, workforce development and training certification - as a cornerstone partner in CompTIA's new Server+ certification. As a cornerstone, Course Technology provides direct input into the direction of the Server+ certification exam and will publish fully authorized Server+ materials for higher education, career, and certification training in July 2001.
Course Technology currently offers an extensive list of courseware written for both vendor-specific and vendor-neutral certifications, including MCSE, Novell, Cisco, and CompTIA's A+ ®, Network+ ™, and i-Net+ ™ certifications. As one of the earliest cornerstone partners to join CompTIA on Server+, Course Technology will participate in exam development.
"CompTIA's vendor neutral IT certifications provide people with a unique and powerful opportunity to start a career or re-direct their current careers." said Joe Dougherty, CEO of Course Technology. "We have all seen the phenomenal success of the A+ certification. Course Technology is honored to be selected to help develop the Server+ standards. We are also excited about the potential for this new certification and we are looking forward to developing world-class courseware to help people learn and prepare for the workplace in this burgeoning area."
Server+ is a vendor-neutral certification that addresses advanced issues such as RAID, SCSI, multiple CPUs, and more. Like the popular A+ and Network+ vendor-neutral certifications, Server+ certification demonstrates that an individual has the skills necessary to deal competently and effectively with these issues. By not being tied to any one company's technology, CompTIA's vendor-neutral certifications are becoming increasing popular as they show broad technical knowledge that can meet the rapid pace of changing technology. Currently, there are 260,000 individuals worldwide who are A+ certified. Server+ is expected to follow a similar growth pattern.
